Martinez scores stunning goal as Colombia upset Argentina

Argentina will face Brazil in the semifinals on Tuesday, while Colombia will take on Chile

Argentina beat Ecuador 4-2 on penalties to move into the semifinals of the Copa America on Thursday after goalkeeper Franco Armani saved two spot-kicks in the shootout.

The match had finished 0-0 after 90 minutes and extra time, with both teams having chances to win the game.

Argentina had the better of the chances in the first half, with Lautaro Martinez hitting the post and Sergio Aguero forcing a good save from Ecuador goalkeeper Alexander Dominguez.

Ecuador came into the game more in the second half, but they were unable to find a way past Armani.

The match went to a penalty shootout, and Armani saved spot-kicks from Enner Valencia and Robert Arboleda to give Argentina the win.

In the other quarterfinal, Colombia beat Lionel Messi's Argentina 2-0 thanks to a stunning goal from Roger Martinez.

Martinez scored the opening goal in the 71st minute, with Duvan Zapata adding a second in the 86th minute.

The win means that Colombia will face Chile in the semifinals on Wednesday, while Argentina will take on Brazil on Tuesday.
