Commonwealth Sport Welcomes The Gambias Return

Welcome Back, The Gambia!

Commonwealth Sport Welcomes The Gambia's Return

The Commonwealth Games Federation (CGF), also known as Commonwealth Sport, is pleased to announce the return of The Gambia to the Commonwealth Sport family.

The Gambia first participated in the Commonwealth Games in 1970 and has since competed in 10 Games. The country's best performance came at the 1998 Commonwealth Games in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, where they won a silver medal in athletics.

The Gambia withdrew from the Commonwealth in 2013 but has since rejoined the organization.

CGF President Dame Louise Martin said: "We are delighted to welcome The Gambia back to the Commonwealth Sport family. The Gambia is a valued member of the Commonwealth and we look forward to their continued participation in our Games."

The Gambia's return to the Commonwealth Sport family is a positive step for the country and for the organization. We look forward to working with The Gambia to help them achieve their sporting goals.
